The
state of Queensland within Australia has a great variety of
physical features as a result of its many climatic regions which
range from temperate and sub-tropical zones in the south to
the tropical belt in the north. The Great Barrier Reef is a
unique 2000 kilometre long string of coral reefs, cays and sandy
islands which lies off the east coast of Queensland. It contains
an abundance of marine life and has become an extremely popular
tourist destination.
