Brisbane,
the capital city of Queensland, is a thriving metropolis which
lies in the south-east corner of the state and is often referred
to as "the River City" or the city of "Sun-Days".
It is situated on the Brisbane river which is a large winding
river that almost encircles the central business district. The
rivers South Bank which lies opposite the centre of the
city is a popular recreational area containing parklands, restaurants
and constructed canals and a sandy swimming beach and was created
there after the dismantling of World Expo 88. Brisbane has almost
200 parks, gardens and reserves which, together with its climate
create a pleasant setting for outdoor living. With its sub-tropical
temperatures and easy access to the Gold Coast and Sunshine
Coast, Brisbane has become a popular tourist destination for
people from all over the world.
